A sound basis for process safety

The Betriebssicherheitsverordnung (Ordinance on Industrial Health and Safety) defines the main rules on implementing process safety in Germany. It defines the employer’s obligation to do everything possible to prevent harm to employees and other individuals within their area of responsibility. Where this is impossible, the hazard has to be kept as low as technically possible.

Process Safety and Hazard Analysis

Having an accurate hazard analysis and risk assessment of your chemical systems and processes provides the basis for correctly and effectively implementing suitable safety and protection systems, and for the relevant organizational measures.

Explosion Prevention and Protection

If, in your processes, flammable or combustible liquids which can form an explosive atmosphere or dusts that can form an explosive dust/air mixture are exists, you have to provide an Explosion prevention and protection concept and an Explosion Document.

SEVESO III-Directive; Prevention, preparedness and response

With the approval of the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers, the SEVESO III-Directive (2012/18/EU) on controlling major accident hazards involving dangerous substances came into force on 13th August 2012.
With deadline for transposition in the Member States on 31.05.2015 and application from 01.06.2015 on.

Hazardous Incident Ordinance / Plant Safety

Germany’s Technical Rules for Plant Safety (TRAS) include technical and safety rules and findings which correspond to the current levels of safety technology as defined in Article 2 Number 5 Hazardous Incident Ordinance (Germany’s 12. BImSchV).
They give operators among others guidance on taking suitable protection measures.
