In germany the TRAS (specific technical rules on plant safety) help the operator to identify and assess hazards.  They provide guidance when specifying suitable protection measures.

Hazard Sources

The hazard sources specified in these technical rules (TRAS) are

  • rainfall and flooding
  • wind, snow and ice
  • exothermic chemical reactions

On new plant projects, risk assessments should take these hazard sources into account. On a existing plant, the operator should check the extent to which these risks were taken into account on a former risk assessment.
